All on 4 Dental Implants

in Upper East, Manhattan

If you’re missing most or all teeth—or struggling with loose dentures—All-on-4 offers a stable, fixed set of teeth supported by as few as four strategically placed implants. At Blue Dental Clinic on the Upper East Side, we plan every case with your final smile and bite in mind, aiming for confident chewing, clear speech, and natural esthetics.

Why choose us

  • Prosthodontic-led planning: Final tooth position and bite designed first; implants placed to support ideal esthetics and function.
  • Same-day solutions (when appropriate): Immediate provisional teeth so you leave with a fixed smile while you heal.
  • Material choices: Monolithic zirconia or high-quality hybrid options for strength, beauty, and longevity.
  • Comfort & clarity: Gentle techniques, thorough numbing with optional nitrous, transparent timelines, and insurance-friendly estimates.

What is All-on-4?

“All-on-4” is a fixed full-arch bridge attached to four (sometimes five or six) implants. Two implants are placed near the front of the jaw and two angled toward the back to maximize existing bone—often avoiding grafts and shortening treatment time. (You may also hear All-on-X, which simply means the number of implants is tailored to your anatomy.)

Who is a candidate?

  • Many or all teeth missing, failing, or non-restorable
  • Loose, uncomfortable full dentures
  • Adequate bone—or willingness to consider minor grafting when needed
  • Non-smoker or committed to reducing smoking during healing
  • Good general health and gum health

How the process works

  1. Consultation & 3D diagnostics
    Exam, photos, and (when indicated)
CBCT 3D imaging to map bone, nerves, and sinuses. We review goals, timelines, and costs.
  2. Smile design & treatment plan
Tooth size, shape, and position are designed for your face and speech. We confirm implant number (4–6 per arch) and prosthesis type.
  3. Implant placement & provisional teeth
Implants are placed with a precise, minimally invasive approach. In qualified cases, we attach a
fixed provisional bridge the same day (“teeth-in-a-day”) so you never go without a smile.
  4. Healing & integration
    Over
8–16 weeks, implants fuse to bone. You’ll follow a modified diet and we’ll see you for check-ins and occlusion (bite) refinements.
  5. Final bridge delivery
After healing, we take detailed records for your
final zirconia or hybrid bridge, fine-tune shade and contours, and secure it for everyday wear.
  6. Maintenance & protection
Home care coaching (water flosser + threaders) and professional cleanings keep tissues and implants healthy.

Prosthesis & material options

  • Monolithic zirconia bridge: Exceptional strength and lifelike translucency; highly chip-resistant.
  • Hybrid bridge (titanium bar + acrylic/ceramic teeth): Durable framework with repairable teeth/gum composite.
We’ll recommend based on bite forces, esthetics, speech needs, and budget.

What to expect during recovery

  • Most patients manage soreness with over-the-counter medication.
  • Soft diet for the first weeks protects healing implants and the provisional.
  • Swelling peaks at 48–72 hours and subsides; we provide clear home-care instructions and check-ins.

Cleaning & maintenance

  • Daily: Water flosser, floss threaders/under-bridge brushes, and thorough brushing.
  • Professional: Specialized cleanings and implant checks (often every 3–4 months at first, then 4–6 months).
  • Night guard may be recommended for clenchers/grinders to protect your new work.

Cost & insurance

Investment varies by arch (upper, lower, or both), number of implants, grafting, and final bridge material. Many plans contribute to parts of care (extractions, some surgical steps, provisional/final prostheses). We’re insurance-friendly—we verify benefits in advance, provide a clear written estimate, and submit claims on your behalf. Flexible payment options are available.

All-on-4 vs. alternatives

  • Snap-in overdenture (implant-retained, removable): More stable than traditional dentures, easier cleaning, lower cost; still removable.
  • Traditional full denture: Lowest cost but least stable; may require adhesives.
  • Segmented implants + crowns/bridges: Highly natural feel when enough teeth/bone remain; more visits and components.

FAQs

Will I leave with teeth the same day?
In many cases, yes—a fixed
provisional bridge can be attached immediately. Final zirconia/hybrid teeth are made after healing and fine-tuning.

Why do some cases use 5 or 6 implants instead of 4?
Additional implants can improve support based on bone quality, bite forces, and arch shape. We’ll tailor the plan to your anatomy.

Do I need bone grafts?
The angled-posterior approach often reduces grafting, but minor grafts or sinus lifts may still be helpful for long-term success.

How long do All-on-4 results last?
With good hygiene and regular maintenance, implants can last many years. Bridges may need periodic maintenance or replacement of wear components over time.

How do I clean under a fixed bridge?
We’ll show you the routine: water flosser along the gumline, floss threaders/superfloss under the bridge, and targeted brushes for corners.

What if I already wear dentures?
Great—you may be an excellent candidate. We can often use your current denture as a surgical guide or to shape your provisional smile.
